Blocked or Overflowing Toilet in Korea? What to Do First
If your toilet is blocked right now — do not flush again. A second flush overflows onto the floor. Follow these steps first.

Plunger the right way
- 1. Cover the drain hole fully with the plunger
- 2. Push down gently to seal
- 3. Pull up sharply (the blockage comes out on the pull, not the push)
- 4. Repeat about 10 times

Do not do this
- Repeated flushing — it overflows onto the floor.
- Wire hangers — they crack the bowl and push the object deeper.
- Boiling water — it can crack porcelain.
- Strong acid chemicals.
